boys with headdressesI wish to thank each and every person who has contributed to this project in any way. Instead of naming you in this public website, I will thank you generally for the areas of your support.

Our launching event, AIDS Orphan Day, held in May 2006 at a beautiful rural home in Corrales, is a good example of the community involvement it took to raise substantial funds and awareness for the children of Goromonzi. Our deep appreciation goes to everyone involved, from the musicians and dancers who performed, to the high school students who helped serve food, produce a slide show, direct parking, set up and clean up, to those who prepared, purchased and served food, designed tee shirts, created and sent invitations, posted flyers, created displays, to those who talked one-on-one to our guests about each child. Thanks to all our guests for coming and making it such a brilliantly successful day.

The same kind of involvement across communities is at work in every aspect of this organization, not only in New Mexico and Zimbabwe, but also in Texas, Connecticut, California, Washington, England, and South Africa. A heart-felt thank you to every one who worked, played, danced, wrote, traveled and contributed to make the possibility of happy, healthy and fulfilled lives for Zimbabwe’s children a reality. A special thanks to our legal advisor for incorporating our group and helping us get tax-exempt status. Another thank you goes to our (three!) web designers and our graphic artist, each of whom took our project to another level.

Our Zimbabwean counterparts are truly courageous and generous people. The volunteers, coordinators and caregivers are remarkable people. They walk all over the countryside to check on the children’s health, to find and distribute food, and pay school and uniform fees. They have completely given themselves to transforming the donations from abroad into services and care for children not their own. Our admiration, love and appreciation go with them every day.

Part of the joy of generating the resources these children need to live happy, healthy and fulfilled lives is engaging in a rich and diverse community of outstanding individuals. Each one of you has unique talents to contribute. Thank you for all you do, all you are, and all you give.

We know that the true heroes in this work are the children. They are beautiful, talented and deserving young people, who are truly grateful for what you do and for the financial contributions you make. They work hard to be successful in school and they take care of one another when there is no one else there for them. Click on Successes, Children’s Letters to hear from these delightful and grateful young beings. The children hold you in their prayers and think of you and your generous contributions every day. Your generosity and commitment gladdens my heart. I am aware of how blessed I am to be part of this loving community that bridges continents.
